Papakura Marae

Edmund Hillary School has enjoyed a special relationship with Papakura Marae and whanau over many years.

The distance between the Marae and School is a short five minute stroll along Hunua Road. It is important for students, staff and whanau to have this close connection particularly given we are located in the area of Tainui.

It is especially important for our children and families to have access to the local marae when so many are a long distance from their turangawaewae.

Papakura Marae offers a number of services for families to access, these include;

Other activities include opportunities for schools to visit to learn about marae tikanga through experiencing powhiri,waiata, karakia and mihi.
