Kootuitui ki Papakura

Kootuitui

In September 2015 six schools celebrated the official launch of the Kootuitui Digital learning project. The participating schools were Edmund Hillary, Red Hill School, Papakura High School, Kereru Park Campus, Park Estate School and Papakura Central School. The schools have developed an effective partnership of working together to engage in a multifaceted programme spearheaded by the Middlemore Foundation team led by Board Chairman Nick Main and Executive Director Pam Tregonning. Westpac Bank along with other contributors is the main sponsor.

The 3 year pilot programme aims to address the three areas of Health, Homes and Education;

Health: Edmund Hillary School has an improved health service as a result of being in the programme. We now have a Health Nurse and a whanau support worker who attend daily to our children's health needs.

Homes: A co-design project is underway which involves working directly with families to identify and address key issues they face in new and innovative ways.

Education: pertains to students, teachers and whanau engaging in digital learning using chromebooks or Ipads to accelerate student achievement.

Manaiakalani Education Trust

Our participation in the Kootuitui digital learning programme has been made possible by the Manaiakalani Education Trust and the Manaiakalani Outreach Programme. This aspect has ensured access to a tried and tested model which has been in operation for over 7 years.
